Home Funeral Discussion

Home funerals are a return to family-directed post-death care that takes place at home. There are numerous benefits to having a home funeral, including having more time to spend with our beloved deceased, having the ability to care for our own as opposed to turning them immediately over to a stranger, creating a "greener" funeral experience, and a decrease in the cost of end-of-life care.

This talk will explain more about what home funerals are, how families can learn to do home-directed death care, and the legalities involved in New Jersey.

Plenty of time will be given at the end of the talk for questions and discussion.

Discussing a congregational bereavement care committee

The first step in creating a congregational bereavement care committee is a talk about what they are and how such a committee could benefit your congregation.  This care committee could consist of two people or two dozen, depending on interest in participation and size of the congregation.

I am available to talk with your group leader and/or come and speak to the congregation about the laws in NJ, how to create a care committee, and the training needed to set the committee in motion.

Creating a congregational bereavement care committee

If there is an interest, I will lead a training program, one class a week for seven weeks, for those who want to participate.  The cost of the program is on a sliding scale, to cover the cost of printing and workshop supplies.  The program will cover everything needed for members of the bereavement care committee to help congregational members at the time of their death or the death of a loved one.

We will be using the educational resources provided by Undertaken With Love.

Services for Groups or Congregations

If you'd like to host a speaker or would like a workshop for your group or congregation, I have several options to choose from. Many services are provided at low or no cost to those in the Matawan, Aberdeen, Keyport, Hazlet, Holmdel, and Laurence Harbor area of NJ.
