Death Over Dinner
Pre-Planning
Session

Pre-planning for our end-of-life is an important gift that we can give ourselves and our loved ones.  It ensures that our own wishes are met, and leaves those left behind with much less of a financial and emotional burdern.

In a pre-planning session, I will work with clients to discuss what plans can and should be made, and what forms are important to have on hand at the time of death.  For a nominal printing fee, I will provide materials to be filled out by the client.

Whether you are healthy or ill, it's never too early to create a plan for the end of your life.

Need to have a frank discussion with family members about death, but don't know where to begin?

Death can be a very taboo subject in family settings, but it's a ncessary discussion to have.  Does Grandma want cremated or buried?  Where is Dad's DD214 form so we can produce it for a military burial?  What kind of life celebration do you want your family to hold for you when you're gone?

I'll help get the conversation started.

I will guide selected family and friends in how to prepare their recently deceased loved one for a funeral service at home.  I will work with them as an advocate with their chosen licensed funeral home director to make the choices that are right for their family.

A packet of information will be sent via PDF for home-printing by the family with lists and reminders of what will need to be done when their loved one has passed.  Alternately, for a small printing fee, I will provide the printed packet for the family.

For those who would like to learn more about what a home funeral entails, I will meet with an individual or family to explain the process, legalities, and the costs that a home funeral entails.

We will meet at a local coffee shop, restaurant or library for a 1-2 hour discussion. (Clients who are dealing with illness can make arrangements for a home visit if necessary.)

Services for Individuals and Families

Below are brief summaries of the services that I offer to local families.  These services are provided at low or no cost to those in the Matawan, Aberdeen, Keyport, Hazlet, Holmdel, and Laurence Harbor area of NJ.  (There are nominal printing costs for paperwork in some cases.)

The services for families and/or individuals are provided locally.  My goal is to empower families to have the knowledge to care for their own during a home-directed funeral, and feel comfortable doing so on their own.
